Building an RC: Kyosho Javelin (Part 2)

Описание к видео Building an RC: Kyosho Javelin (Part 2)

This is the final video (part 2) of the Kyosho Javelin build. In this video I replace the initial motor I installed, added the customized driver, and present clips and photos of the completed car. I’ll be doing a test run when the weather is better.

I really enjoyed building the Javelin. Like the Scorpion, the parts and assembly was quite a favorable experience. The Javelin was stored unfinished because I was looking for an appropriate/unique brushed motor for the car. I originally was thinking of a modified vintage Reedy or a Kyosho 240SB, but I came across what I think is a little bit more uncommon (especially in this condition), a Kyosho Le Mans Pro High Torque motor. It’s a 16T double motor, 30,000 RPM, and works with 7.2v to 9.6v. It’s in really good condition so I only had to take it apart, clean, and re-oil the ball bearings. I also desoldered and cleaned the capacitors and then shortened and soldered them back.

As fo for the car, I kept the original orange roll cage and chrome wheels in the box. I wanted a more modern (but still ‘80s) take so I used a white roll cage, black wheels, etc. I wanted the kit to look more like a race version (as opposed to the box art one). Also installed a custom aluminum wing. Other upgrades include: HD slipper pads, aluminum servo mount, hard front support, aluminum servo saver, Turbo Optima gold under guard. Although there are many more upgrades I would want, I decided to not go overboard since this car won’t be used as much.

The Javelin always stood out to me even back in the day and I'm glad I was able to build one. I hope you enjoyed this video and build.
