I've thought about the idea of creating a YouTube channel for a while.

I recently joined a course on creating YouTube videos.

As part of it, made a commitment to post a video at least once a week for 12 weeks. I am 4 weeks into the course so far and learning a lot.

So my reasons for starting a YouTube channel are the following:

My first reason is to give entrepreneurs and business owners a chance to get to know me — it breaks the ice for potential clients to see what I’m all about.

So in addition to my website and podcast, this is another way for people to see me and my style.

The second reason is to challenge myself — being on camera is frankly, very difficult for me. I enjoy challenging myself and taking risk.

I started a podcast earlier this year and that was challenging at first — I’ve seen improvement in my interviewing technique. I’m hopeful the same comes for my on-camera technique.

The third reason, I’m super passionate about business ownership and business owners in particular. They are a special breed. They take risk, they create and they are driven.

Each time I work with one, or interview one on my podcast — it fires me up.

Being a business owner myself, I’ve felt the ups and downs and wins and losses — it can be a roller coaster for sure.

In fact, owning a business can often feel like you are on an island by yourself. Doing these videos provides an opportunity to break the isolation for business owners.

To see, that their challenges overlap with others and that there are answers to break through the wall.

The fourth reason is there’s a lot of information and services out there that just give bad or wrong info to business owners. Even worse, there are all these cookie cutters courses teaching business coaching.

It bothers me, as the tactics taught are often sleazy and the education is typically lacking. So there’s this army of people out there that, are “coaching” with zero practical experience.

That’s scary to me. And sad.

So, I want to share the things I’ve actually done to successfully grow and sell 2 businesses.

And lastly, a business is potentially the biggest asset a business owner has. It can provide:
• a generous sale to the owner,
• a transition to next generation family members
• or passive cash flow once it has reached its full potential.

I want to help people see this opportunity and have a plan to get there.

So these are my reasons. This is an exciting journey for me and appreciate you watching.
