To see how my 60-year-old Kohler & Campbell spinet piano sounds after its second tuning in as many weeks, I decided to play the first verses and choruses of two songs I played for the first time on this piano some 45 years ago and have played countless times since -- my favorite modern hymn, "Jesus Is Love," and one of my favorite piano-based pop tunes, "Easy," both by Lionel Ritchie. This medley also ended the regular list and order of songs that I'd play whenever I visited my mother in her later years.
