Spotting false and real spiritual teachers is essential on our paths. Recently, my spiritually transformed friend was taken in by a narcissistic, somewhat famous spiritual teacher, who taunted, threatened, took, controlled, domineered, swore, shouted angrily, and made demands when she, finally seeing through his false persona, decided to leave him. His self-righteous behavior and lords his spiritual advancement like a weapon; he regularly one-ups his students, bragging about his fasting, veganism, meditation life, guru lineage, and Central American ayahuasca retreat. In the church, they call this spiritual pride. When narcissists 'become' spiritual teachers, they feed off the people they promise to help. How do we spot them to avoid damage, danger, or wounds?
