California Horticultural Society presents Ken Blackford in the sequel to his very popular talk in October 2022 on Amaryllid Geophytes and other South African plants.
His talk picks up from where he left off in October further elaborating on amaryllids and other South African plants, particularly bulbs, that are appropriate for our Mediterranean climate. Ken shares his experiences, goes over problems that can occur, discusses propagation methods, shares resources and answers questions. His presentation is beautifully illustrated with images of the geophyte genera: Veltheimia, Scilla, Lachenalia, Massonia, Ixia, and more.

Ken, a hobbyist gardener, a hybridizer and an excellent plant photographer. He worked in the Ruth Bancroft Garden learning much from Ruth herself, and is active in many gardening groups in-person and online. He now lives in San Diego indulging his passion for South African bulb plants.
