High quality wood shingles are hard to find these days. Producers were effectively squeezed out of the market by inexpensive but extremely low quality products decades ago. In just another one of my many quixotic efforts to hold back the destruction of our historic buildings that often comes from inferior mass produced garbage, I’ve personally made it my mission to make a high quality product at the lowest possible price.

My goal is to encourage others to try this out for themselves. While making shingles myself is a pleasant part time endeavor, I’d love to see hundreds of fellows out there doing it, each competing to produce an affordable AND, more importantly, HIGH QUALITY product. Maybe I’ll make an in-person shingle making course if there’s any interest.
