Hello all! I recently came into possession of an Ibanez SH7 7th Heaven distortion pedal. Now, this pedal does not sound like a typical overdrive or distortion. Instead, it produces a fuzzy, synth-like distortion sound that reminds me of the 90's and early 2000's. From what I've ready out there, the pedal is actually voiced for 7-string+ guitars. Unfortunately I only own 6-string guitars at the moment so it's all I could use for the demo. I also bet that this pedal would sounds great with a bass!

The Ibanez SH7 does have some cool features. The EQ has plenty of adjustability, and since this pedal is part of Ibanez's Tone-Lok series, you can recess the knobs and not worry about accidentally messing up your settings. The pedal also has two voicings modes. The first (Mode 1) is very full-sounding with plenty of mid-range. The second (Mode 2) appears to scoop out all of the mids. I tend to gravitate towards a more mid-focused sound, so Mode 1 was probably featured more in the video. To cap things off, the Ibanez SH7 also has a noise gate (Void). There are three levels of noise gating available. It can be off, some gate, and lots of gate. I didn't hear a big difference between the two gate settings, but it does do a good job of taming all of that crazy fuzz/distortion gain. You'll especially hear the gate at work when single coils are used in the video.

Overall the Ibanez SH7 is a well built pedal. It's not a sound that I would typically use or seek out but it has it's applications and would sound cool with lower tunings, a 7-string, or even a bass.
