Daily study structure & How to work on a new piece for Recorder Players (Study Habits 2)

Описание к видео Daily study structure & How to work on a new piece for Recorder Players (Study Habits 2)

After our pre-instrument warm-up of my previous video (see
   • How to warm-up for musicians (study h...  ), it's now time to structure our daily practice with instrument-specific warming up and cooling down! I also give you tips on how to work on a new piece.

Our specific warm-up will be based on gentle and progressive work on the instrument. This is why we begin with long notes, slow scales etc., that allow us to warm up without tensing up unconsciously. The more difficult our repertoire, the more important and the longer this progressive warming up should be.

The keys to a good warm-up on your instrument are:
* gentle movements
* variety
* moderate speed
* neutral position of the joints and good posture

We can distinguish three blocks in our daily practice:
A. specific warm-up on the instrument and technique
B. repertoire
C. improvisation and cooling down

And how to study a new piece?
I talk about how muscle memory works and why it's so important in our way of studying, rhythm and reading ahead a couple of measures.
