The terminology used in this video is not found in the Terminologia Anatomica; however, it is widely used by dental practitioners to locate the site of injection for an anesthetic block of the inferior alveolar nerve.
By the end of this video, you should be able to identify the following:
The internal oblique line, or temporal crest, is a buttressing ridge of bone on the internal surface of the ramus.
The coronoid notch is the concavity on the anterior border of the ramus as it approaches the body below.
The retromolar fossa, or triangle, is the depression between the anterior border of the ramus and the internal oblique line.
