We do not support unnecessary handling of wildlife, but Tony had a "human moment" when he decided to give his little seal a quick neck scratch. The rescuer first tried to push the seal towards the ocean once he climbed out of the rescue net, but the seal was a bit disoriented and Tony wanted to comfort the animal. Even quick seal rescues are highly stressful to the animal, especially if the entanglement had caused discomfort or pain. We hope this seal will never have to be rescued again.
