1. The snowplow technique in dentistry
This is a modern method for placing composite resin fillings, particularly in Class II cavities, that uses two different viscosities of the same material.

The procedure

A thin layer of low-viscosity, flowable composite is placed on the base of the cavity and along the gingival margin but is not cured.
A higher-viscosity, packable bulk-fill
composite is immediately placed on top of the uncured flowable layer.

The pressure from the packable composite pushes the flowable material into all the tiny gaps and irregularities of the tooth preparation, filling voids and ensuring a precise marginal seal.

The two layers are then light-cured simultaneously in a single step.
Benefits
