We may have a lot of stereotypes about nuns, thanks to their portrayal in pop culture, but what is life really like for them on a daily basis? Sure, we know the basic rules they have to follow, like poverty, chastity, and living apart from the world, but there are plenty of other rules that vary greatly monastery to monastery. Although the terms are often used interchangeably, a “sister” and a “nun” are not exactly the same thing, and it takes some time to officially become a nun.
