Benidorm, originally a fishing town, now Costa Blanca's major tourist destination. Located between Alicante (41 km) and Valencia (140 km), Benidorm is one of the most popular choice of millions of holidaymakers every year in Spain and Europe. It is one of the world's largest and vibrant resorts.
The two large beaches Playa de Levante and Playa de Poniente, are separated by a rock formation called the "Balcony of the Mediterranean". Mal Pas is a smaller beach beneath the port and the castle cliffs. These beaches are regularly awarded with the "blue flag" of the European Union, due to their cleanliness. Benidorm enjoys over 3,000 hours of sunshine a year.
