"I want to create visual slides, but they need to be accessible" -- that's a common concern I hear and maybe you've been worried about this too.

Another way I hear this is when people say "I know my slides are boring, but at least they're accessible."

But...are they? Is it true that slides with lots of text and few visuals are accessible? You can tell by the thumbnail and title of this video that no, I don't think that's the case.

This video kicks off my presentation accessibility series -- a series of videos that does a deep dive into what makes our academic & research presentations inaccessible. And, of course, how to make accessible presentations. This series is not just about accessibility in higher education (class lectures), but also includes accessibility for conference presentations and other types of presentations we tend to give as academics and researchers.

In this video, we start with an overview of why the current way academics and researchers give talks and lectures is extremely inaccessible. We will work through examples of accessible vs. inaccessible presentation features across 4 areas: slide design, storyboarding, delivery, and supplementals.
