The same cube is supposed to deform by 50%; this time there is no friction between the plates and the cube (smooth compression boundary). The results are observed in PostView – it can be seen that the whole cube compresses uniformly. This, however, is not a real life example, as there is always some friction between the object compressed and its compressor.
