সতীনাথ ভাদুড়ী বাংলা সাহিত্যের এক অনন্য লেখক। ওনার লেখা গল্পগুলি একটা বিশেষ সময়ের দলিল। যা শুধু বাংলার মানুষ নয় বরং বিহারের প্রান্তিক মানুষ তাঁদের জীবনযাপন, বর্ণাশ্রম প্রথার অদ্ভুত ব্যাবহার,অন্তঃপুরের মেয়েদের অবস্থা ইত্যাদি এক অপরূপ ছবি এঁকে গেছেন।
গণনায়ক এক অসাধারণ গল্প, এই গল্পেই প্রমাণ হয়ে যায় সতীনাথ ভাদুড়ী আসলে কি বিশাল মাপের লেখক ছিলেন। একটি নদী, তাঁর ওপরে একটি ব্রিজ, আস্তে আস্তে যুক্ত হতে থাকে কতো চরিত্র, অসহায়, দুঃখে কাতর, নদীর বিভাজন, মানুষের বিভাজন, শহরের বিভাজন যা আসলে ভারত পাকিস্তানের ভাগ। ভাগে লাভবান কে? কারা হয়ে থাকে? কলমের আঁচরে ফুটে উঠেছে সেই গল্প।
তাই গণনায়ক গল্পটি না শুনলেই নয়। অবশ্যই শুনুন।

Satinath Bhaduri is one of the most poignant writers in Bengali literature. His written stories are the documents of a specific time. This not only reveals the people of Bengal but also the oppressed people of Bihar their lifestyle, the effect of religious disparity, the conditions of women who lived inside, and so on sketching a beautiful picture of it.
GonoNayak is an excellent story that proves the scale of the great Satinath Bhaduri as an author. A river and bridge over it, slowly adding the various characters, their pain, their insecurities, division of the river, division of people, division of township which is actually a division of India and Pakistan. Who are the beneficiaries of the division? Who gets benefits? Through the streak of the pen, he draws a picture of it.
