What is Dark Energy?

Описание к видео What is Dark Energy?

SLAC's Sydney Erickson is working to better understand dark energy, an unknown form of energy that causes the universe to expand at an accelerating rate. Although dark energy is estimated to comprise 68% of the universe, its properties remain a mystery. The NSF-DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory with its SLAC-built LSST Camera will soon begin a 10-year survey of the entire Southern night sky, collecting unprecedented data that could redefine our understanding of dark energy and possibly challenge Einstein's theory of gravity. Stay tuned as the observatory is getting ready to capture its first images in 2025.
