A very good evening spent at Harrow & Wealdstone on the West Coast Mainline where we see plenty of services from London Northwestern Railway, Avanti West Coast, Southern, London Overground, London Underground and freight from Freightliner and GBRF.

Harrow & Wealdstone sits on three lines, the main one being the West Coast Mainline with the other two being the Watford to London D.C line and the London Underground Bakerloo Line which runs from Harrow to Elephant & Castle.

The station was opened in 1837 by the London and Birmingham Railway and was simply known as Harrow. As with many stations on the outskirts of London at the time the station was surrounded by wheat fields with the closest large settlement being Harrow on the Hill which was located roughly 1.5 miles to the south of the station. Wealdstone was a collection of houses 1 mile to the north of the station on what was Wealdstone High Street. The station is a mixture of old and new with the older part of the station now residing on what is the Watford to London D.C line. At the time that line was the fast running lines of the WCML.

Over the years the area started to grow with people wanting to leave the centre of London and head out further afield and by 1897 the area had grown quite significantly. By that time the station was given it's current name.

In 1917 the Bakerloo Line was extended from Willesden Junction to Harrow & Wealdstone.

Joining me today was John Trainspotter so please do check out his channel and give him as much support as you can.

My next rush hour film will actually be from Ashton on the West Coast Mainline.
