This series is about the historical Rosicrucians – i.e. those who were first known as the Society of the
Golden and Rosy Cross, using the age-old symbol of the Rose and Cross – who existed in the 16 th and 17 th
centuries. This is the society that gave birth to many other societies and organisations, some of which
adopted and used publicly the same symbol in their name, and who are thereby known collectively as
Rosicrucians. This collective name is also used nowadays to refer to those societies and individuals of
earlier times who were privy to the symbolism of the Rose and Cross and sought to practice what it meant.
But this series of talks is about the historical 16 th /17 th -century Rosicrucians who brought the European
Renaissance to a climax by creating the English Renaissance and laying the foundations for modern science
and society, in which Francis Bacon played a key role.
The four talks are entitled:
1.Founding of the Historical Rosicrucians;
2.Establishing of the Rosicrucian Work;
3.Development of the Rosicrucian Work and Birth of Shakespeare;
4.Revelation of the Rosicrucian Work and Outreach to Europe
