Описание к видео Hypnosis session for ME/ CFS, no music version. Relaxation, visualisation, meditation.

Research indicates that people with ME/CFS show objective abnormalities in central nervous system functioning and autonomic regulation (sympathetic / parasympathetic balance). One of the most consistent findings is autonomic dysregulation: reduced heart rate variability (HRV) and other markers suggesting a relative dominance of sympathetic activation or a weakened parasympathetic response in individuals with ME/CFS.
This shift toward a chronically activated “threat mode” may maintain low tolerance to exertion and disrupt regenerative processes. Long-term stress, psychological trauma, or repeated somatic stressors may contribute to reinforcing these patterns (often referred to as limbic sensitization or kindling), which may theoretically impede a return to autonomic and metabolic balance.

How hypnosis may help:
• Direct modulation of the autonomic nervous system (ANS): Experimental studies show that hypnotic states and targeted relaxation sessions can increase parasympathetic tone and reduce sympathetic activity (higher HRV, lower catecholamine markers in some studies), creating physiological conditions that support recovery. This may reduce the body’s “alarm state” and improve regulation of breathing, circulation, and rest.
• Effects on limbic circuits and attention networks: Techniques focused on inducing safety (suggestions, visualizations, amygdala/insula retraining) can help “reprogram” threat responses by providing safe experiences through which the nervous system learns new, less reactive patterns. This draws on neuroplasticity principles: repeated, associated experiences (e.g., suggestions of calm paired with physiological relaxation) can strengthen new pathways while weakening old, hyper-reactive ones.

Conclusions and notes:
Current biological and neuroimaging data suggest a significant role of the brain and autonomic nervous system in ME/CFS, supporting the exploration of interventions aimed at nervous system regulation.
Hypnosis and neural-retraining approaches may offer promising supportive tools—especially as part of a multimodal strategy.
