NYC Barbershop Books Promotes Youth Literacy

Former teacher Alvin Irby observed a lack of literacy training among kids in his NYC community, especially young Black boys. He founded Barbershop Books to inspire kids to read for fun and provide a community outlet for literacy education and support. Pilot Pen awards Alvin $1,000 to support his mission!
