I have been dying to do his analysis but I have holding off on for his pro-day results because I was convinced they would bolster my case that this guy is the best wildcard in the draft. At 6’2” 329 lbs Boyd is a hulk defensive tackle who primarily lines up as a 0-technique nose-tackle; who even occasionally shifts to DE before the snap, but excels right over the center and anchors the defense, and he thrived in that position. THIS GUY EXPLODES OFF THE TAPE. Boyd Possesses favorable height and size with a robust lower body and dominant upper body. Effective at defending the run at the point of attack and displays above-average skills in pass rushing, indicating significant potential. Exhibits prompt initial movement and maintains consistent explosiveness off the line. Maintains a low stance with excellent leverage, making it challenging to displace him, often necessitating multiple blockers. Assertively engages double-team blocks, effectively creating openings for other rushers. Demonstrates adeptness in maintaining balance and leverage. Displays a praiseworthy work rate, and pursuit capability, and consistently takes efficient routes to ball carriers.
Boyd had 43 tackles on the year... Totaled 6.5 TFL, which includes 3.5 sacks. This got him invites to the Hula Bowl and East-West Shrine Bowl, where he was one of the most talked about prospects. He embarrassed a lot of guys in 1-on-1s with his pure power and aggression. This guy is incredibly powerful…. He benched 38 reps at 225 lbs.
