Defense Activity for Non-traditional education(DANTES)
Army Personnel Testing
the Joint Services Transcript is where you
as a service member can take
your training that you do in the military
and go and get college
credits for it
so basically there
you can go online
and you can download your transcripts
and or you can request
an official copy be sent to your school
and school will evaluate your
credits and then they would award you college credit
based on those training
the most common one is like
your basic training can give you credits for PE
for like a physical
education credits that you would get in college
but whatever skills you have with 88 Myi
transportation
if your degree is in mechanics something like that
you can take all
that training that you did in military in the military
and apply them to the college but
the college is the one that accepts those credits
so you have to talk to them and say hey
I'm in the military
here's some of the training that I've done
will you give me credits for these
and then they can go
do their evaluation and if they do their evaluation
they may award you some of those credits
I've seen colleges there are some colleges that
actually build a degree basin
because we've have service members
that's been in the military for years
they've done so many things and they the college build
a curriculum around their experience
and may award them like a Liberal arts degree and
something like that
but that that's something that's out there
and that's available in addition to
all these other tools like clap exams that's available
we're going to talk about that a little bit later
that you can get college credits for classes
you just got
to take the exam and it's free for members
you just find a national test
centers that offers the program
and they do it in sociology
um they do
a science environmental science some math classes
some history classes and you can just
test out of those programs
so you don't have to take them
those courses while you're going to college
but JST is one of the resources
there's also a website
that can help soldiers with college planning
and career planning some is ta
design and those are all the links that you can go on
to check those out
and to see if what is right for you

GED the act
sat G Mac Prep the grad the pre grad
GRE
and your clipper your dsst
you can get more information
like I said National Test
Centers is the one that administers the clip test
and you can find
the center that's closest to you based on your
zip code by going through that link
and on the Dante's website is a host of information
in regards to what type of
career management and what type of
information you can go get
in regards to what you're looking for
if it's like I said if it's clap you can go on there
if it's a GED or if it's a CT or sat
prep everything is on there
alright
so the next part of this is
if you came into the National Guard and
you took the ads web
test and you didn't score so well or if you
want to raise your scores or you want to
raise your score to go to another
school to qualify in a different MOS
if you want to become an officers
you have the ability to
retake the test
and that is the Arm Forces Classification test
you can schedule to take it at any education center
there is one in four Drum West Coin
Ford Hamilton
and there's a test site here in Albany as well
but it's right now it's not
operational but
when it becomes operational for soldiers in this area
they can also request to take the afct
and basically it's just a raise their gt score
there's also
classes and courses the bcep courses
available they teach them at pack
Fort Drum Education Office
offers bcep courses and that's a course that they
teach you to raise your gt score
and then after you raise your score they will
after you
finish the course they will give you the test
then those new scores are then logged into your record
so all the testing office offers that
so if it's something that you're interested in
you can do that as well
and I got in in
also your d lab dlpt and OPI
if you speak a different
language there is test available
some of those languages qualify for pay
if you're a linguist so
that's something that you can look into
flight if you're looking to become a pilot
take the flight test
all of that is available
to New York Army National Guard members
like I said there's just tons of stuff out there
