Opening Keynote Address by Réka Szemerkényi
Réka Szemerkényi is a high ranking diplomat, high level speaker at international conferences and leading expert on geopolitics and transatlantic security. Her leading roles in think-tanks include being Executive Vice President of the Washington think-tank CEPA, the Center for European Policy Analysis; in business, her role as Senior Advisor to the Chairman and CEO of MOL Group, the Hungarian Oil and Gas Company; and as high ranking diplomat, she was her country’s first woman ambassador to the US.
She earned her PhD in Soviet energy policies towards Europe during the Cold War. She is University Lecturer in European and American universities, she has several international awards and recognitions, she is Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters of Marymount University, VA and is Board Member of the Fulbright Association.

As part of her social responsibility, Reka Szemerkenyi founded the non-profit organization “Strategy and Leadership for a New Central Europe” in 2023 and launched its main fundraiser for 2024 “Together for Others” for supporting the education of children in war-torn Ukraine.
She is mother of four (23, 21, 20, 15) and has a distant-adopted child in Haiti (10).
