Filming snowy owls in the Arctic for a nature documentary is no easy task! Wildlife cameraman Michael Male and director Matt Hamilton embarked on an extreme journey to track and film these elusive birds in the frozen wilderness. Facing unpredictable weather, melting ice, and aggressive owls, they pushed the limits of wildlife filmmaking.

Will they find the snowy owls before it’s too late? The Behind-the-scenes of our “Snowy Owl - Queen of the North” documentary shows the challenges and rewards of wildlife filmmaking.

This adventure took place in Nunavut, Canada & Alaska, where snowy owls breed in the wild. Snowy owls nest in remote Arctic locations, making them one of the hardest birds to track. Some years, they don’t breed at all!
