Pros
Sound is great. Detailed, good DAC, great frequency range.
Easy to connect to App and Wifi.
Easy to set presets in the App for favourite playlists and albums.
Easy to switch between inputs e.g.
Wifi, Bluetooth, Aux, USB and Optical using the App.
Options to add :
IR remote.

DAC upgrade?? ESS9023 Sabre DAC board but it doesn't list the Plate Amp as a compatible device. I will ask.
Button board to select source, cue songs, control volume, but not sure how useful this is because the On/Off switch also doubles as a source switch and the app also does all this and/or the remote.





Opportunities for improvement

It would be really helpful if the instructions gave the cutout dimensions for installing into a cabinet.
Please supply the 8 black mounting screws .
In the instructions it says the Tone knob is to adjust the treble. Please change the label to "Treble".
The Bass control certainly increases bass. But a separate volume control for the Subwoofer channel would be a hugely better way to dial in the preferred bass level. Everyone likes different amounts of bass and this lacks the flexibility to get the right balance for each listener.
Having said that, there's a software program called ACP Workbench that allows some DSP adjustment of the levels. I hope to get this working in the next little while. It sounds wonderful and I love the idea of DSP, but I just feel that it's too out of reach for most music lovers to be bothered with DSP. Just give us knobs to twiddle and buttons to press and switches to flick.
I actually took a feed from the 0.1 sub outlet to another powered sub to get the amount of bass I like.
Preset content limits playlists to 50 songs, even if your playlist has more songs.
Ten Presets to save your favourite albums or playlists into. Problem these are limited to 50 tracks. Why not just connect to your entire playlist which could contain hundreds of songs?
The DC power socket connects nicely with no sparks or pops. However as soon as you plug it in the unit powers up. Please make it so it's just in standby when the plug is in so not drawing power. Then a separate power switch.
While the Mode button also doubles as a power switch using a long press, it is hard to tell when the unit is powered on or off. A simple on/off toggle switch with a LED indicating the amp is powered on would be better. I'd prefer if the power jack didn't power up the unit but required the power switched to on. I'd prefer the mode button to be separate to the power switch. Keep it simple please.
