Classic highlights as Jamaica's 4x400m relay team win the gold medal, beating the USA and Germany at the Helsinki 1952 Olympic Games.

Four years earlier at the London Games, the Jamaican team for the 4x400m relay was a definite favourite. Arthur Wint and Herbert McKenley had taken gold and silver, respectively, in the individual 400m final. However, Wint pulled a muscle, which prevented Jamaica to take a place on the podium.

Once again, expectations were high for Jamaica to show the same level of performance in the relay as its athletes in the individual events. This time, it had been Rhoden and McKenley who had taken the top two spots on the men's 400 metres.

Without any injuries to interfere, the four man team won a close race against the USA and clinched victory by 0.1 second. Herb McKenley, George Rhoden, Arthur Wint and Leslie Laing were now, all together, Olympic champions and Jamaican heroes.
