Avicii's former girlfriend has broken her silence following the DJ's shock death on Friday. Emily Goldberg took to social media to pay tribute to the tragic Swedish star who was found dead while on holiday in Muscat, Oman. He was 28 years old. Thousands of mourning fans gathered in Stockholm this evening for a memorial dance party 24 hours after the DJ's death. Emily dated Avicii - real name Tim Bergling - between 2011 and 2013, and uploaded a series adorable snaps showing the pair kissing and cuddling. She wrote: "'Come on babe, don’t give up on us. Choose me, and I’ll show you love.' "Those are lyrics from a song Tim wrote for me. I wish I could have lived up to them." She continued: "For the two years we were together, he was my closest confidante, and my best friend. "Now I can’t look at Bear without knowing I’ll never see his face again. "I’m still collecting my thoughts and thank you for all your kind words and texts. "Wake me up when it’s all over, because I don’t want it to be real #ripavicii." She also shared a Whatsapp conversation she had with the musician from an unknown date. She wrote: "I love u tim!" The superstar DJ replied: "I love you too emilyyyy." Meanwhile, a memorial for Avicii is being held in his hometown of Stockholm. Thousands of grieving fans gathered to pay respects to the musician with a memorial dance party. Fans gathered on Sergels Square in the center of the city to listen to Avicii's tunes and pay respect with dance. Both young and old stood together to mark the death of the young musician whose electronic beats topped charts around the world. Police investigating DJ Avicii's death in Oman have "no criminal suspicion", a source in Oman's police force claims. Two post-mortem examinations have been conducted and "we absolutely confirmed that there is no criminal suspicion of death", a source told Sky News . Avicii had previously been open about his chronic health issues, having had both his appendix and gallbladder removed after being struck down with acute pancreatitis - brought on partly by excessive alcohol consumption - aged just 21 during a US tour. “Yeah I was drinking way too much, partying in general way too much,” he told Time magazine of his 11 day hospitalisation in 2014. “Then I got a pancreatitis attack, which is very rare.
