Being in France, the guide of course included food – and excellent food at that. The concept gained immense popularity and the company assembled a team of experts to conduct anonymous reviews of restaurants all around France.

Over a hundred years on, Michelin stars can be found worldwide. Though traditionally awarded to high-end eateries, today even street food stalls are granted Michelin star status.
