In his now infamous Newsnight interview, the former prince Andrew insisted he went to New York solely to break off his friendship with the disgraced financier.

But as with many of the claims in that interview, new evidence from the Epstein files casts a very different light on that trip. Many of the relevant documents have been reviewed for the first time by the Telegraph, and reveal that, far from cutting ties with Epstein during a week-long stay at his New York mansion, Andrew partied with the convicted paedophile, made dinner plans with Naomi Campbell, and even considered a trip to the financier’s private island as part of his visit.
