Advance Correction Slip No:289

Para No. 159 (3) of IREM Vol.I (1989 Edition) stands modified as follows:

The period of training for direct recruits will vary depending on the qualifications of recruits. The same will be as under:-

(1) Course completed Act Apprentices trained in Railway Establishments.-Nil

(ii) Course completed Act Apprentices trained in non-Railway Establishments.-06 months

(ii) ITI passed candidates in the same or the fields or related fields as per DR advertisement norms.-06 months

NOTE: There may be certain circumstances (exceptional or otherwise) such as Compassionate Ground Appointees (CGA) etc., where the recruits do not possess the minimum qualification of Act Apprenticeship or ITI, in relevant trade; their period of training shall be as under:

(i) Degree/ Diploma holders in field of relevant trade and similar trades on par with DR advertisement norms-06 months

(ii) Engineering Degree/ Diploma holders in a field other than that of relevant trade -12 months

(iii) Matriculation plus ITI qualification in a trade which is one of the engineering trades falling in the relevant trades for a post of Technician Grade-Ill as per extant RRB notifications, but is not the relevant trade for the post-12 months

(iv) Matriculation or any other higher qualification and other non relevant ITI- 2 years"

Requisite educational qualification for Railway jobs in Level-1

The one time exemption granted by Indian Railways in Employment Notice no. 02/2018 and RRC-01/2019 issued by Railway Recruitment Board in February 2018 and March 2019 respectively was only special dispensation for those recruitment drives and same has now been withdrawn.

The minimum educational qualification for all future recruitments to be notified after 15.06.2019 in Level-1 of the pay matrix in technical departments (i.e., Civil Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical and Signal & Telecom departments) and Catering wing of Railways will be 10th pass plus National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by National Council for Vocational Training OR 10th pass plus ITI.
