Inspecting & Cleaning VANOS - N42/N46 VALVETRONIC Retainer Spring Replacement [PART #3]

Описание к видео Inspecting & Cleaning VANOS - N42/N46 VALVETRONIC Retainer Spring Replacement [PART #3]

In this video series I diagnose and replace a broken retainer torsion spring that holds the intermediate lever pressed against the VALVETRONIC eccentric shaft on a N42 engine. I also disassemble and clean the VANOS unit and confirm the fix with INPA rough running menu.

PART #3:
0:00 Disassembling cleaning VALVETRONIC.
0:47 Installing new torsion springs without special tools.
6:22 Reinstalling VALVETRONIC bracket assembly.
11:27 Disassembling the VANOS unit.
18:48 Inspecting the VANOS unit for wear and damage.
24:01 How VANOS unit works?
26:44 Reassembling the VANOS unit.
28:59 Timing the engine.
36:18 Installing valve cover, wiring harness and ignition coils.
39:06 VALVETRONIC initialization and starting the engine.
41:35 Resetting adaptations, checking rough running cylinders and correct VANOS position with INPA.
45:53 Test drive and conclusion.

After chain replacement (   • N42/N46 Chain Replacement DIY Complet...  ) I noticed that there are some ticking noises during throttle body to VALVETRONIC operation transition. During this transition the engine stalls but then recovers to "normal" idle RPM.
