Smart solution - support to a sitting position on the bedside by Per Halvor Lunde

My solution for perfect support to a patient - from lying on the bed to a safe and comfortable sitting position. Here I use what we call a "psoas cushion" - often used by physiotherapists like myself in totally different cases: supporting the legs and relaxing the back - and the musculus iliopsoas.

As I also have experience as a nurse assistant, I use equipment from different parts of the health care business in totally new situations - like in this case;

Sometimes we need to help patients in situations harmful or dangerous to both parts involved. With this simple solution, I don´t need help from my colleagues to support the patient, I have got all the help i need...and the patient sits perfectly well, safe and comfortable.

Then I can help her with the shoes, the sling for a standing hoist, testing her balance on the bedside, putting on a shirt, testing her ability to sit at an intensive care unit etc. etc.

And one more thing - I can keep the bed in a high position - perfectly safe for the patient and ergonomically perfect for me as therapist or nurse. No need for a sudden "grounding". The patient sits "like a queen" - and it is both safe and relaxing for the patient as long as she sits well into the bed - just as she should and would do herself.

The sliding tissue I use, is for reducing friction while turning the patient - or to help the patient do it herself with less assistance from me.
