Launch of Sigma 7 | Wally Schirra's First Space Flight

On this edition of ‪@mannedspace1187‬ we remember the launch of Walter M "Wally" Schirra aboard his Project Mercury spacecraft he named Sigma 7 on October 3, 1962. Schirra was the fifth American to fly in space and the only the third to orbit Earth. In this video, I've combined actual NASA film footage with the voice communications between Schirra and Mercury Mission Control to commemorate this historic event.
