On Niiro Cradle, humanity began to interpret its own biological limitations as a design flaw which consciousness had outgrown. NiiroCore, the planet's governing body and technocrat authority, developed the Substrate Migration Protocol: a multi-stage program to transfer human minds into synthetic frames and replace biological tissue with superior machinery. Piece by piece, they upgraded themselves into something cleaner, stronger, and free from the weaknesses of flesh, until humanity vanished entirely. These vignettes capture the transition years: exploring the black markets trading in jailbroken brain matter, the religious movements resisting the change, and the hybrids living on the fringes of this transhumanist world.
