Rollei is a B&W film with a very specific look that comes from its Orthochromatic nature.

This means that it can only 'see' part of the colour spectrum and does not react to red light!

So with any scenes that have good red or blue tones, you’ll see stronger contrast than usual. With caucasian faces, this will be obvious around the eyes and lips. You can amplify this with red lipstick that makes your lips very dark. Or you can play with green, blue, eyeshadow to lighten areas 🤡

With landscapes you should be careful not to overexpose as there is obviously a lot of green at the moment.

Orthochromatic was the most common type of B&W film before panchromatic was invented in the early 1900s. So try out a slice of history!
