13 days ago we noticed this guy was falling behind on growth, 12 days ago we removed it from the other two into its own enclosure in our room. We wanted to wait until it grew a bit more as the others that it was with were jumping all over it, we were worried it would get hurt. The next day after separating it we noticed it couldn’t open it’s eye, the day after that we noticed it’s eye was swollen, from then till now we have been keeping a very close eye on the chick, hand feeding and giving it water. We went to the vet and they gave us Amacin eye ointment, unfortunately it wasn’t improving so we did a lot of research and found that amoxicillin is safe for chickens, we found the dosage and started giving it to the chick in its water. After 5 days of being on antibiotics and cleaning it daily with saline eye drops it is improving! We hope it will continue to improve and start growing.
