Judith Faith Rosen Klowden, 82, died suddenly, but peacefully at
home February 17, 2026. Judy was born in Chicago to the late
Milton and the late Ann Rosen nee Stein, and she became a loving
wife, mother and grandmother, as well as a wonderful sister-in-
law to Joyce (the late Paul) Porter and to Mike and Pat Klowden.
After receiving her B.A. from Roosevelt University, she taught
geography and history at Amundsen High School. She met Arthur
Klowden on Feb. 16, 1963, and married him on June 19,1966. She
was a devoted wife and mother, who treasured their daughters
Ellen and Mindy (Dennis Lima) and grandson Cody. She was so
proud of all their achievements. She enjoyed decades of cousins’
clubs and family Zooms. As a lifelong learner Judy had a strong
interest in politics, history, current events, cinema, music and all
things Jewish. She was active in the state PTA, NCJW, Hadassah,
and was on the executive board of the Dawn Schuman Institute
for Jewish Learning. She spent many hours daily watching CNN,
MSNBC and PBS. She spent hours doing crossword puzzles and
reading the Chicago Tribune and the New York Times. She
usually ended the evening watching the 10PM news, then Colbert
and an episode of Cheers or Mary Tyler Moore, or the Dick Van
Dyke Show. She and Art were long time subscribers to WFMT,
WTTW, The Illinois Holocaust Museum, The Lyric Opera of
Chicago, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. They enjoyed
many vacation trips, both domestic and foreign, often with their
daughters. She and Art took many non-credit educational classes
at Northwestern University and Oakton Community College, and
more recently on the computer via Zoom. Originally members of
Cong. Bnai Emunah, they enjoyed being members of Ezra
Habonim-The Niles Township Jewish Congregation since 1997,
where Judy was a member of the sisterhood. The family would
like to express their gratitude to her long-term caregivers, Marie-
Colette Altrait and Tiffany Wallenberg who had become part of
her family. She shall always be deeply beloved by all who knew
her, not only relatives, but also lifelong friends, even as far back as
school chums including Judith Miller, Jackie Seaman and Barbara
Schwiesow. May her memories be a blessing for all of us. Service
