Little Buddha - Acceptance (Piano)

A Buddhist monk believes that a 10-year-old American boy is the reincarnation of his spiritual teacher, Lama Dorje. The boy's parents are dubious, but following his business partner's suicide, the transformed father relents and allows his son to travel to Bhutan. However, there are two other children who the monk thinks may also be the reincarnation of Lama Dorje.

For the longest time I thought this magnificent work was untranslatable to the piano (strings and soprano in the original). But then I listened to one of the two works that must have inspired Sakamoto: Ravel's Pavane pour une infante defunte (the other one is Barber's Adagio). The piano style of the Pavane gave me some ideas on how to arrange.
This is, in my ears, Sakamoto's very best piece of music: Beautiful, deep, passionate, meditational.
