Two shocking murder cases have emerged from Karnataka—one in Bengaluru and another in Raichur—both triggered by petty arguments over a cigarette and a plate of idli.

Case 1 – Bengaluru:
At around 4 AM, near Konanakunte Cross in Bengaluru, a man named Prateek allegedly killed 24-year-old Sanjay, a private company employee, following an argument over a cigarette. After a brief verbal spat, Prateek drove his car at high speed and rammed into Sanjay’s bike from behind. Sanjay was seriously injured and later died in the hospital. The accused has been arrested and the vehicle seized by Subramanyapura Police.

Case 2 – Raichur:
In a separate incident near Zakir Hussain Circle in Raichur, a youth named Sadiq was brutally murdered allegedly over a dispute involving an idli. Accused Kareem, reportedly a relative of a former councillor, demanded respect and food from Sadiq. Upon refusal, three individuals assaulted Sadiq and later stabbed him fatally. The police have arrested the accused and seized a bullet bike used during the incident. Sadiq’s father claims the motive was related to Sadiq opposing illegal ganja (marijuana) trade in the area.

Both deaths were preventable and stemmed from trivial disputes that ended in irreversible tragedy. These cases highlight the senselessness of violence and the grief families endure due to such avoidable conflicts.
