At a Berlin flea-market in 2017, I bought some 1/4” tapes containing amateur recordings made shortly after WWII of various church bells in Germany. Many of the bells are no longer existent and it is possible that these recordings represent the only audio record of these lost artefacts. Another, almost completely decayed tape-reel contained near indecipherable orchestral recordings. From these materials I created tape-loops and collaged the results in a sound narrative which aims to remind us how events, physical items and culture can be lost to time and decay regardless of how significant, essential or valued they were in their time.
