Politically and socially conscious Irish rock band U2 with Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton & Larry Mullen jr was formed in 1976, Their debut album "Boy" was followed by their first UK #1 album "War" in 1983 which included the singles Sunday Bloody Sunday and Pride (In the name of love) and by the mid '80s they were known globally for their live act and for Live Aid (1985). Their 1987 album The Joshua Tree made them international superstars and their singles With or Without You and I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For peaked at #1. They were taped at a press conference in Toronto in 1987; Host Stu Jeffries of the CBC Vancouver TV series Good Rockin' Tonite talked with Neil Finn (vocalist/guitarist actually from New Zealand) & Nick Seymour(bass) of Australia's Crowded House (formed in 1985) when they were in Toronto in 1991. Their self titled debut album produced two major hits Don't Dream It's Over and Something So Strong. Members Neil Finn and Paul Hester were originally with the NZ band Split Enz and Neil's brother Tim joined the group in 1990. Cutting Crew was an English pop band formed in 1985 which topped charts everywhere with their single (I Just) Died in Your Arms from their 1986 album Broadcast and follow up I've Been in Live Before. Stu talked with Nick Van Eede (vocals) and Kevin MacMichael (guitarist) in 1987.
