The State of Missouri is one of the only states in the US that allows you to get a retail dealer license at your home. If you do apply for a dealer license at your home, you still must meet all compliance guidelines. You must meet all local zoning requirements in order to operate dealership at your home.

If you would like to find out if you can have a Missouri dealers license at your home, you can call your city hall or county court house and ask for planning and zoning. Let them know the address of your home and ask if you can have a dealers license at that location. They will either say yes you can have a license at that location, or absolutely not, it is not zoned correctly.

Many counties in Missouri do not have any zoning whatsoever. If you live in a county with no zoning you should be able to get a Missouri dealer license at your home. One thing to keep in mind in this scenario is that your official display lot may not be a driveway. So make sure that you have a display lot that is not part of your driveway. You also must ensure the lot and sign are viewable from the nearest roadway. The building does not have to be viewed from the nearest roadway, but the required lot and sign must be seen from the nearest road way.

I have actually seen Missouri residents have a lot and sign at the entrance to the property even when the home is not viewable from the roadway. Remember, only the lot and sign must be seen from the roadway, the building does not.

Having a MO dealer license at a home address is not usually allowed in most cities in Missouri unless you live in a commercial district with commercial zoning.

I have helped many entrepreneurs in Missouri get a dealer license at the home. Many of these dealers eventually find a commercial location which tends to allow more traffic and more profits.

If your home is not zoned for a dealership, you will need to find a location with zoning that allows a dealer license. Even if you must rent a building in your area for a few hundred dollars a month, you should make many times more than your rent payment every month with a dealers license.

You should be making anywhere from $1,000 to $4,500 or more on the sale of every vehicle, so a small monthly payment on a location away from your home will be well worth it.

You must have insurance and a bond to get your dealer license. In your class I will do my best to help you obtain the cheapest insurance and bond with my many industry contacts which will be provided in your mandated Missouri Dealer License Class
