Sites along Rend & Arbuckle Connector Trails, New River Gorge National Park, Old Wee Win Coal Camp

Описание к видео Sites along Rend & Arbuckle Connector Trails, New River Gorge National Park, Old Wee Win Coal Camp

Video begins at the Thurmond, West Virginia end of the Rend Trail in the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve. The Rend Trail is an old railroad grade turned into a nice walking and biking path. Only 1.25 miles from the beginning is the Arbuckle Connector Trail, which is a one-third mile steep and rocky path down to the Southside Trail. Just before you reach the Southside Trail on the Arbuckle Connector Trail is the old, abandoned coal camp site of Wee Win. Several foundations and retaining walls, along with very old collapsed coke ovens (200 yards long), can be seen at this old coal camp.
