Ms. Cheema has been practising as a lawyer for over 10 years. She has appeared effectively as part of the defence team in the 2G trial and as part of the prosecution team representing the CBI in the Coal Scam cases as well as the 1984 Anti Sikh Riot cases both at the trial and at the appellate stage. She has represented various political leaders of national stature in highly contentious matters. She also specializes in laws relating to economic offences including PMLA. She has been offering her services whole heartedly for protection of human rights in cases of police and executive excesses committed against conscientious dissenters and cases involving the rights of weaker and marginalised sections.

Dr. Bedi is Professor of Law at the University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University. She teaches the core course on Indian Constitutional Law and elective course on Internal Security Law in addition to the Master’s course on Comparative Public Law (LL.M). Her areas of research are constitutional law, counter-terrorism law and comparative public law. She has been a gold medalist for 8 consecutive years in her B.Com. (Hons), LL.B. and LL.M.
