take a deep breath. is an interlude taken from the hour-long show, "THE PULL", for solo piano, fixed audio & video, and featuring the poetry of Canadian writer and pianist, Mado Christie.

Written in the middle of 2020, this piece is about a reach for “normalcy”, and the chaos which renders that concept impossible. A series of lush chords is stretched underneath a collection of increasingly frantic gestures before it collapses and gives way to an introspective, contemplative exploration. The chaos softens and a new calmness takes over. This is a musical moment which richly and fully mirrors life in a turbulent time.
