Each week I share a scrapbook layout to give you a little sneak peek into what I’m scrapping, and inspire you to play with pretty pixels too.

Today I’m sharing a page from my All About Me album. You can see my previous All About Me album here.

This layout was inspired by Alice Boll's Layout a Day

Prompt: Marathon
When Chip wanted to run a marathon, he knew he’d need a creative way to make sure it happened. This lead to the creation of The Silo District Marathon and his training plan that helped him get in shape for his marathon run. PROMPT: Sometimes we find creative ways to set ourselves up for success. Scrapbook about a creative solution or the path to get to your goal.

Technique
Get creative! Create your own embellishment or background paper for your layout.

How do I set myself up for success? I was pondering this for a while, and then I thought about a question I get asked often. How have I run my digital scrapbooking and photo organising business for 10 years and made it work with small children? I don't often scrapbook about my business so this was a good opportunity to talk about how I make it all happen.

Work Time

Create the Look
I happened to remember the photo I took of my work 'theme days' and found it by searching for Niggly Friday in my photo library. (Thank goodness for text recognition). I used that as the feature photo then use the prompt to create my own stack of triangles by using the color picker to choose colours to match the washi tape in my photo. I stacked them, distressed the edges and added a button.

Journaling
In 2015, I wanted to stay on track with my business. I wanted to make sure I was getting to the tasks that mattered most, and have time for myself as well. So I came up with the idea of daily task lists. I would do. I found that having a day of the week dedicated to Promotions would stop me going down a Facebook ads rabbit hole when I was supposed to be editing a video. I would just move through my tasks for each day during nap time.

Big Picture: Planning for my business.
Content: Recording videos and writing.
Play Day: Scrapboook, practise piano or read a book.
Thursday: Promotions (social media, ads, emails)

Years later, I’ve seen this referred to as theme days in the business world. Of course, my great-grandmother would have been doing this all along with Wash on Monday, Iron on Tuesday, Bake on Wednesday, etc. In 2021, theme days still help me keep my work time focussed.
