The sun, energy-efficient light bulbs, and electronic devices all emit blue light, which can have a variety of negative consequences on our physical and mental well-being. While some exposure to blue light from the environment is essential to maintain our sleep-wake cycle, prolonged exposure to blue light from artificial sources like mobile display might have negative health effects.

1. Sleep Pattern Disruption: Blue light stimulates our brains, decreasing the production of the sleep hormone melatonin.
The change of our regular sleep-wake cycle can cause contribute to insomnia and sleep disorders.

Second Eye dryness & inflammation
Long-term exposure to blue light can produce digital eye strain, commonly known as computer vision syndrome. Eye discomfort, dryness, inflammation, impaired vision, and headaches are all possible symptoms. Staring at screens for long amounts of time without taking breaks, or using devices that emit a lot of blue light, can aggravate these symptoms.

Third chance of Macular Degeneration:
Long-term exposure to blue light, particularly high-energy blue light, may raise the chance of developing age-related macular degeneration (AMD). AMD is a prominent cause of vision loss that can harm the centre section of the retina, impairing crisp and detailed vision.

Fourth Circadian Rhythm Disruption: Exposure to blue light, particularly in the evening and at night, can alter our circadian rhythm, or internal body clock. This might lead to trouble falling asleep, poor quality sleep, and feeling sleepy or less aware during the day. Circadian rhythm disruption can also have an impact on mood, cognition, and overall well-being.

Five. Children's Eye Development: Because their eyes are still developing, their lenses are more translucent, allowing more blue light to reach the retina. Excessive exposure to blue light as a youngster may raise the risk of acquiring myopia (nearsightedness) and other vision disorders later in life.
Some safety measures to avoid effect of Blue light:
• Use blue light filters or screen protectors on electronic devices.
• Reduce screen time, especially before bedtime.
• Adjust device settings to lower the brightness and color temperature.
• Use warm or amber-tinted light bulbs for evening illumination.
• Take regular breaks and practice the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes, focus on something 20 feet away for 20 seconds) when using screens for extended periods.
While blue light can have adverse effects, it's essential to note that moderate exposure to natural blue light during daylight hours is generally beneficial for maintaining healthy sleep patterns and overall well-being.
