Precis-writing is a very difficult art, and therefore, like all other arts
should be mastered through practice. Most of the candidates fail to crack this paper in compettivie exams. This video would give a brief to learn this art.
The following points, however, may give the student
some guidance while making a precis.
1. Read the given passage at least twice with a view to grasping its general purport and
then put to yourself the question “What is the passage about?” The answer to this
question will become the heading of your precis.
2. Read it again, and underline everything that seems to be important or relevant.
3. Write down all the underlined points in a logical order.
4. Make a rough draft of the precis with the help of these points.
