In this video, I share five of my knitted yoked sweaters, and (finally!) a finished object – my Iris Socks are done!

For many of us knitters, autumn is our favorite time of year, and that's because it's finally sweater weather! There is something magical about autumn and the cozy feeling of a nice warm wool sweater to ward off the chill. Yoked sweaters are found in many knitting traditions, including from Iceland and the Shetland Isles. These sweaters can be knit either from the top down or the bottom up, but are usually knit in the round to accommodate the fair isle yoke. Sometimes these feature additional colorwork at the hem and cuffs, but not always. The body is usually plain stockinette in a solid coordinating color, but sometimes Shetland sweaters have a lace pattern in the body. These sweaters are a great place to start with colorwork for new knitters since most of the pattern will be plain knitting, and they are quick and easy to make because they are knitted in the round. There won't be a lot of sewing up and finishing to do once the knitting is done.
